Wonderful watercolour. I first went to Dubrovnik in 1968 when it was still unspoiled by millions of tourists or the civil war. We stayed at a hotel on Lapad - this reminds me of that. Back then there was a delightful one-carriage tram from Lapad to Pile Gate. I've also been to Krakow, and your painting of that is beautiful and moody. Back then Dubrovnik (Ragusa as it was called once) was still Yugoslavia and the people were wonderful. They especially liked the English, remembering we helped them during the Second World War. Tito was still alive, they had stood up to the Soviets, they were optimistic and proud of their country. I still have my little Dubrovnik guide with a wonderful aerial drawing of the city and the Lapad/Gruz peninsula.
